If the FBI and DOJ fails to comply with the House Republicans subpoena request, after months of stonewalling and impeding the Congressional investigators, there will be daunting repercussions, House Oversight Committee Chairman Gowdy, R-S.C., warned Sunday.
Republicans have charged the DOJ and FBI are deliberately impeding their investigation into the the bureaus handling of the Hillary Clinton email probe and the surveillance of the Trump campaign during the 2016 presidential election by refusing to avail more than a million documents the House Judiciary Committee has requested pertaining to probes.
The FBI and DOJ has justified the stonewalling and refusal to comply with the House GOPs request, claiming the sensitive documents requires careful review before they are disseminated.
House Speaker Paul Ryan led a meeting Friday night with senior members of the DOJ and FBI, cautioining the Justice Department will face the full panoply of constitutional weapons available to the peoples house, including contempt of Congress.
Under the heading of minor miracles, you had members of the House working on a Friday night,Gowdy said. Paul Ryan led this meeting. You had [House Intelligence Committee Chair] Devin Nunes, [House Judiciary Committee Chair] Bob Goodlatte, myself and everyone you can think of from the FBI and the DOJ, and we went item by item on both of those outstanding subpoenas.
And Paul made it very clear; theres going to be action on the floor of the House this week if the FBI and DOJ do not comply with our subpoena request, he continued. So [Deputy Attorney General] Rod Rosenstein, [FBI Director] Chris Wray you were in the meeting, you understood him just as clearly as I did. Were going to get compliance or the House of Representatives is going to use its full arsenal of constitutional weapons to gain compliance.
I dont want the drama; I want the documents, Gowdy added.
Gowdy also expressed disdain with FBI leadership in light of the damning DOJ IG report released Thursday, confirming FBI officials vowed to stop the Trump campaign and presidency.
I dont know what [Special Counsel Robert] Mueller has, he said. I do know this: that bias is so pervasive and everyone who has ever stood in front of a jury and had to explain it in a way will tell you it is the most miserable feeling in the world and Ive never seen this level of bias.
The IG report also delegitimized the FBIs surveillance of the Trump campaign and the bureaus accusations of Trump, Russian collusion, Gowdy argued.

Between Baltimore and D.C., in the suburb of Laurel, sits Ragamuffins Coffee House. Run by neighborhood Redemption Community Church, the nonprofit coffee shop opened with the intention of serving the community as well as presenting the Gospel. Until the city instituted a new zoning ordinance, banning the coffee shop from holding services. Believing that the new ordinances were specifically aimed at them, the coffee shop and church have now turned to Alliance Defending Freedom to take legal action to protect their religious rights.
Ragamuffins Coffee House is located in a very poor neighborhood and seeks to meet the needs of those who are struggling, offering them a welcoming and warm community and great coffee.
Were trying to represent the tremendous love of God. Community is our first product; after that we bring [handcrafted] coffee, said Rev. Jeremy Tuinstra, according to the Baltimore Sun.
But the churchs beautiful outreach effort was recently met with staunch opposition, when city officials told them to cease ministry operations and leave immediately. According to the Alliance Defending Freedom, the religious freedom legal group representing the church, city officials adopted new zoning codes with the express intention of stopping Redemption Community Church from operating in the citys downtown area.
The law forces houses of worship to submit to an expensive, time-consuming, and uncertain special exception process that is not imposed on secular organizations, ADF explained. Despite the building being advertised for church/school purposes, shortly after the church purchased the property, the zoning laws were altered.
Almost immediately after the church purchased the property, the city changed its zoning code to remove houses of worship on less than one acre as permitted uses in the zone and allow them only if...

The ethical view of the universe involves us at last in so many cruel and absurd contradictions, when the last vestiges of faith, hope, charity, and even of reason itself, seem ready to perish, that I have come to suspect that the aim of creations cannot be ethical at all. I would fondly believe that its object is purely spectacular; a spectacle for awe, love, adoration, or hate, if you like, but in this view and in this view alone never for despair! Those visions, delicious or poignant, are a moral end in themselves. The rest is our affair the laughter, the tears, the tenderness, the indignation, the high tranquility of a steeled heart, the detached curiosity of a subtle mind that's our affair! And the unwearied self-forgetful attention to every phase of the living universe reflected in our consciousness may be our appointed task on this earth. A task in which fate has perhaps engaged nothing of us except our conscience, gifted with a voice in order to bear true testimony to the visible wonder, the haunting terror, the infinite passion and the illimitable serenity; to the supreme law and the the abiding mystery of the sublime spectacle. From Conrad's Memoirs, published in 1912. This was then a common notion: that creation is something like a great work of art, and our main role is to observe and appreciate it. For all I know it may still be a fairly common view, although I don't see much of this sort of speculation in the things I read. This attitude even made it into the creation myth of the great believer Tolkien, whose world sprang from a work of music composed by God and performed by angels, made even more powerful and beautiful by the attempt of Satan and his rebel angels to sabotage the performance.
And what is a novel if not a conviction of our fellow men's existence strong enough to take upon itself a form of imagined life clearer than reality and whose accumulated verisimilitude of selected episodes puts to shame the pride of documentary history?

On Sunday it was revealed in the Washington Post, Trump associates Roger Stone and Michael Caputo were approached by another FBI informant during their campaign in the Deep States quest to tie Donald Trump to Putins Russia.
And once again neither of them took the bait.
The Fake News media is using this story to continue to push the Trump-Russia hoax in an attempt to drag the Russian collusion narrative into the 2018 mid-term elections.
Rudy Giuliani spoke to Jake Tapper in an appearance on CNNs State of the Union Sunday and called for the Mueller witch hunt to be investigated.
I believe that the Mueller investigation should be investigated, not necessarily because of Mueller, but because of its genesis in this very very, now almost illegal probethis Russia probe that began with Peter Strzok in charge. He didnt leave until July of last year, Giuliani told Tapper.
Giuliani clarified he wants an investigation into what led up to the Special Counsel.
We want the Mueller probe to be investigated the way the Trump administration has been investigated, Giuliani said.
The Inspector General report revealed a very damning text message from Muellers lead attorney, Peter Strzok.
The Trump-hating FBI agent sent his mistress Lisa Page a text message saying well stop Trump from becoming President.
This text message from Strzok was sent to Page 9 days after Crossfire Hurricane was opened and 6 days before the insurance policy text.
Mueller and his team of hacks should be shut down and investigated immediately.
On Sunday, President Trump once again ripped the Russian collusion witch hunt from his Twitter account.
WITCH HUNT! There was no Russian Collusion. Oh, I see, there was no Russian Collusion, so now they look for obstruction on the no Russian Collusion. The phony Russian Collusion was a made up Hoax. Too bad they didnt look at Crooked Hillary like this. Double Standard!

The Washington Examiner reported:
Longtime Trump confidant Roger Stone and Trump campaign aide Michael Caputo claim to have been targeted in a setup by U.S. law enforcement during the 2016 campaign to pin then-candidate Donald Trump.
In a Washington Post report Sunday, Stone claims that he met with a man in May 2016 who offered dirt on Trumps 2016 rival, Hillary Clinton. However, the man, who identified himself as Henry Greenberg, said he wanted Trump to pay $2 million for the damaging information and therefore was shut down, according to Stone.
Stone recalled telling the man that he didnt understand Trump, a wealthy New York real estate businessman. He doesnt pay for anything, Stone claims to have said to the man at a restaurant in Florida.
Afterwards, the report shows a screenshot of a text exchange between Stone and Caputo, who set up the meeting after Greenberg reached out to a Russian immigrant business partner of Caputos.
How crazy is the Russian? Caputo asked.
Stone replied the meeting was a waste of time because the man wanted big money for information.

Strzok worked in the FBI as an inspector and rocketed to the top of the department in a relatively short period of time. Some reports believe that Strzoks familys ties with Obama and his familys history overseas and with uranium may be the reason for Stzoks meteoric rise at the FBI.
Reports are that Strzok first hit the spotlight in August and September of 2015 when he requested all Hillary Clinton email copies under control of the DOE, U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, NSA, and National counterterrorism center, Director of National Intelligence, DOJ, NSA, and US Treasury.
Strzoks apparently had an affair in 2015 and 2016 with his mistress, top FBI Attorney Lisa Page. Text messages between the two were very damning and show a culture of corruption and criminality. They were first reportedly uncovered by the DOJ IG who communicated his findings to Special Counsel Mueller who was the Head of the corrupt Trump Russia scam at the time. Somehow Mueller felt the need to have the most corrupt, conflicted and criminal individuals he could find when creating his team and Strzok and Page were in that list.
What we now know from the Strzok and Page texts are that the FBI implanted numerous spies in the Trump campaign as early as 2015. We also know that former President Obama was in on the entire corrupt scandal based...

Russian state TV is celebrating after seeing the recent report that Trump told G7 leaders that Crimea belongs to Russia because the people there speak Russian.
Trumps statement, which parrots the Kremlins talking points on Crimea, was widely interpreted in Russia as an official declaration by the U.S. that Russia was justified when they illegally invaded Crimea and annexed it from Ukraine.
The ignorant proclamation made by Trump was quickly turned into propaganda and touted by Russian state TV hosts Olga Skabeeva and Evgeny Popov, who triumphantly reported on the remarks Friday.
Krym nash, Trump nash! Skabeeva declared to the audience, which in English means Crimea is ours, Trump is ours!
The GOP seems to be rather overcompensating for their previous Cold War zeal.
It's pretty desperate for the president at this point, which is clear from the fact that his lawyer is seriously considering becoming a cooperating witness against him and his former campaign chairman just spend the first night of, probably, the rest of his life in prison. But, it's okay because he's referencing the wrong IG report to exonerate himself from any wrongdoing. It's one of the silliest things I've ever seen. A report that looks at the FBI and DOJ's performance in the investigation of Hillary Clinton's emails and has absolutely nothing to do with Donald Trump is supposed to somehow clear Donald Trump because it doesn't say he did anything wrong.
And, as embattled as he is, his solution is to salute North Korean generals and make more apologies for Vladimir Putin. He wants to have Kim visit him in the White House and have a meeting with Putin, he wants to end joint military exercises with South Korea and is telling our European partners that Crimea belongs to Russia and Russia should be readmitted to the G7. He's telling anyone who will listen that Kim has a winning personality and runs his country like a champion.
He's fucking crazy, folks. This is not going to end well.

To be blunt, I dont recognize this country anymore.
... Most troubling is the inherent lack of empathy as policy and what that not only reveals but also possibly foreshadows. The only way to rationalize these events is to view these immigrants as less than human.
... the concrete reality is that many of those seeking to stay in the U.S. are not seeking also to become Americans of the U.S. variety. Indeed, the clear message from some of those protesting ... is that Mexican immigrants are taking back what they consider to be theirs. And here's what she wrote in 2008:
At least a segment of those protesting consider themselves to be neither immigrant nor illegal. Signs at one recent rally, for example, read "This is our country, not yours!" and "All Europeans are illegal." "Reconquista" is the word they choose to define their mission, meaning "reconquest."
... the sight of so many who feel entitled to a piece of the U.S., combined with a sense of encroaching bilingualism, contribute to a spirit of diminishing empathies among even the likeliest of sympathizers.
... The country's riches and benefits are not free for the picking - nor are they all necessarily indigenous to the physical territory - but are part of a national package that demands citizenship of its citizenry.
Who "gets" America? And who doesn't?
... It's about blood equity, heritage and commitment to hard-won American values. And roots.
Some run deeper than others.... In a country that is rapidly changing demographically and where new neighbors may have arrived last year, not last century there is a very real sense that once-upon-a-time America is getting lost in the dash to diversity.

Richard Power Sayeed:
Unlike much of what had taken place behind palace gates and Downing Street doors in the week after Princess Diana's death, the content of a telephone conversation between Queen Elizabeth II and Prime Minister Tony Blair about how the Windsors should respond to the fatal car crash in Paris had been leaked only in the broadest terms (they had bickered), and neither the phrases used by the pair nor the exact points they raised were known to Peter Morgan. But when he sat down to write the script for what became The Queen (2006), he had to include the phone call. So he did what was necessary. He wrote the scene, but made it up.Review of The Crown in the TLS for January 19, 2018.
Subsequently, however, the screenwriter noticed something that he recalled, with artful perplexity, at an event in 2017 promoting the first series of his television dramatization of the Queen's life, The Crown. Morgan reported that when, in the years since The Queen was released, Tony Blair has recounted his phone argument with the monarch, he has repeated, unattributed, the artificial lines that his fictional counterpart and Her Majesty's spoke in the film.
Morgan appears to have altered Blair's memory, and historians will likely use the former Prime Minister's recollections as source material, in which case the screenwriter will accidentally have contributed his elegant artifice to the historical record.

Speaking at a campaign rally Saturday in Staten Island for GOP Rep. Dan Donovan, Giuliani argued the bureaus investigation into alleged collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign during the election is a sham.

Chinese media have mocked US President Donald Trump over plans to impose 25% tariffs on $50bn worth of Chinese goods, saying wise men build bridges but fools build walls.
Mr Trump announced the tariffs on Friday, accusing Beijing of intellectual copyright theft.
China retaliated, saying it would impose an additional 25% tariff on 659 US goods worth $50bn.
Stock markets fell after the announcements amid fear of a trade war.
The US had earlier warned that it will impose even more tariffs should China retaliate.

A fleet of NGO ships work around the clock to deliver refugees to Italy. A number of the organizations sponsoring ships in the armada are funded in part by organizations run by billionaire George Soros.
The Italian government told the Dutch ships: They should know we are no longer part of this illegal immigration.
The Guardian reported:
Italys interior minister has sparked a new migration crisis in the Mediterranean by barring two rescue boats from bringing refugees to shore, a week .
Two other ships with the flag of Netherlands, Lifeline and Seefuchs, have arrived off the coast of Libya, waiting for their load of human beings abandoned by the smugglers, Matteo Salvini, the leader of the anti-immigrant party the League, wrote on his Facebook page. These gentlemen know that Italy no longer wants to be complicit in the business of illegal immigration, and therefore will have to look for other ports [not Italian] where to go.
Italys closure of its ports to the migrant rescue ship Aquarius, which was carrying 620 people, triggered warnings from aid agencies of a deadly summer at sea for people trying to cross the Mediterranean.
Axel Steier, the co-founder of Mission Lifeline which operates the Lifeline ship, said his crew had rescued more than 100 migrants off Libya on Friday in an operation with a US warship, and transferred them to a Turkish merchant vessel.
US Congressman Schiff Statement on DOJ IG Report
Washington, June 14, 2018
Washington, DC Today, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), the Ranking Member of the House Permanent Select Committee, issued the following statement in response to the release of the Department of Justice Inspector Generals report on FBI activities prior to the 2016 election, in which Inspector General Michael Horowitz wrote:
We found no evidence that the conclusions by Department prosecutors were affected by bias or other improper considerations; rather, we determined that they were based on the prosecutors assessment of the facts, the law, and past Department practices.
Todays Office of the Inspector General report is an exhaustive review of the decisions made by the FBI and DOJ in the course of the Clinton email investigation.
The IG found no evidence that former FBI Director James Comey and other FBI and DOJ officials acted on the basis of political bias or other improper considerations. Instead, their decisions were made on the basis of the facts and the law.
Nothing in the IGs report calls into question the legitimacy or conduct of the Special Counsels Russia investigation, or the importance of allowing the Special Counsel to complete his work without political interference. If anything, the report only highlights the impropriety of sharing information on pending investigations with Congress in a manner that is likely to be made public, an ongoing concern given Republican attempts to obtain information about the Russia investigation that can be utilized by the Presidents lawyers and surrogates.
Although the Inspector General found no evidence that political bias affected decision-making in the Clinton email investigation, it nevertheless criticized many of the actions and judgments of former Director Comey and others.
The consequence of these serious errors of judgment, however, is now clear: the actions of the FBI and DOJ in the run up to the 2016 election benefited Donald Trumps candidacy and harmed that of Hillary Clinton. If anti-Trump bias had influenced the conduct of the FBIs investigations, then Comey would have disclosed the Russia investigation and its details to the public and the Congress before the election.
And, of course, by keeping the investigation into the Trump campaign secret while so publicly discussing the Clinton investigation and reopening it in the final days of the election, Comeys poor exercise of judgment greatly inured to Trumps benefit. Though he now criticizes Comey for his handling of the Clinton investigation, at the time, Trump praised Comey for reopen...

CNN commemorated Fathers Day weekend with an inside look at a transgender womans hardship of being a father with breasts.
Sabastion Sparks, a transgender man who breast fed her son, recently had surgery to remove her breasts so that her toddler son can see him as a man before Fathers Day, the left-leaning news outlet reported Saturday.
Sparks, who would sit on the school bus and think how much he hated having breasts as a child, conceived her now 20 month-old son Jaxen with her wife, Angel, who is biologically male.
The couple conceived Jaxen the conventional way, even though their biological roles at the time were not compatible with how they saw themselves, CNN reports.
Like many transgender men and women, they had been taking medication to increase the testosterone or estrogen in their bodies. So to make a baby, they briefly stopped taking their hormone pills, CNN wrote. After Jaxen was born, Sabastion sometimes had to breastfeed when he, Angel and their son were out in public. The three of them drew stares as they navigated the aisles of their neighborhood stores. Sabastion, feeling self conscious, wor...

A Las Vegas homeowner awoke to the sound of 2 men breaking into his home on Wednesday morning. So, this being Vegas, the homeowner grabbed his gun and fired at the intruders, hitting one of them multiple times. The burglars fled, with one of them, later identified as Jimmy Leroy Matthews, collapsed in the street. Matthews was taken to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The Las Vegas Review Journal reports:
Las Vegas police were called at 11 a.m. about a prowler on the 2800 block of Hermosa Street, near East Sahara Avenue and Maryland Parkway, Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Ray Spencer said. Officers arrived shortly after another caller reported gunshots in the area, he said.
Police found a man they believe to be 40 years old in the street with multiple gunshot wounds, Spencer said. The man was pronounced dead at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center.
Spencer said two men had jumped a wall to a home before the shooting. One of them had a pry bar with him.
The homeowner noticed one of the men trying to pry open a back window, and he fired multiple shots at the intruders. Both men jumped the fence before one of them collapsed in the street. The other man fled the scene, and has not yet been identified.
The Review Journal also reports that this qualifies as a homicide, so you can expect the Bloomberg PR team to have this on their list of gun violence incidents.

On Thursday, Inspector General Michael Horowitz released his much-anticipated report on FBI and DOJ actions during the Hillary Clinton email investigation.
According to the Inspector General, FBI agents found Huma Abedin deleting classified/Hillary Clinton emails from her Yahoo account but failed to subpoena her devices.
Huma forwarded State Department passwords and classified emails to this Yahoo account before it was hacked by foreign agents and the FBI did nothing. Let that sink in.
In late December, the State Department released a portion of the documents found on pervert Anthony Weiners laptop and at least 5 emails contain classified information.
The FBI seized Weiners laptop after he was caught sexting with an underage teenager and discovered CLASSIFIED INFORMATION on the disgraced politicians computer.

Many in the media are getting excited about the upcoming release of the IGs report into his investigation of abuses at the DOJ. But if it turns out that Horowitz is part of the deep state, the report may be disappointing.
Is IG Horowitz a Good Guy?
Theres reason to believe that Horowitz is a good guy. Last week Horowitz announced that he located the text messages after the FBI said they were lost
In a letter to congressional leaders, Inspector General Michael Horowitz said his office succeeded in using forensic tools to recover messages between senior FBI agent Peter Strzok and FBI lawyer Lisa Page during a key five-month period ending the day special counsel Robert Mueller III was appointed to investigate possible coordination between the Kremlin and Trumps campaign. The missing messages have sparked a political firestorm in recent days, as GOP leaders and the president have questioned how the FBI failed to retain them.
Mueller hired both Strzok and Page on his team of Trump-Russia investigators. They were part of the biased group of far left Obama and Clinton supporters hired by Mueller. Strzok was removed from the team after his text messages were selected in an investigation carried out by the IG. When identified, the IG notified Mueller who then removed Strzok from his team. The claim was that Strzok was biased against President Trump and removed didnt hold water because Muellers whole team was that way. We...

Obama-appointed Federal Judge Amy Berman Jackson agreed with Weissman and tossed former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort in jail.
The Mueller witch hunt charged Manafort with dozens of financial crimes that took place up to 12 years ago.
Manafort should have expected this.
In todays American justice system if you oppose the political elites this is what you get.
Prison for life.
The Hill reported:
Former Watergate prosecutor Nick Akerman said on Friday that Paul Manafort may never again see the outside of a jail cell after his house arrest arrangement was revoked on Friday.
President Trumps former campaign chairman appeared in court after special counsel Robert Mueller asked a judge to revoke his pretrial release conditions, accusing him of attempting to tamper with potential witnesses.
During the hearing, the judge revoked Manaforts bail and ordered him to jail.
Just to put this in historical perspective, what broke the Watergate case was when James McCord got a 25-year sentence, Akerman said when asked about the hearing while appearing on MSNBCs Velshi & Ruhle. He was one of the Watergate burglars. He got a 25-year sentence. He was sitting in jail because thats what made him crack and cooperate.
But Akerman noted that Manafort, who is 69 years old, could soon be facing life in jail.
In 2011 South Africa youth leader Julius Malema told his supporters that the white farmers land must be shared by all black Africans.
He was arrested for playing Kill the Boer (white man) song at his rallies.
Julius Malema later founded the Economic Freedom Fighters, a South African political party.
Malema recently called for new law to confiscate land from white farmers.

The South African Parliament voted to confiscate land from white farmers without payment in February.
In March Julius Malema called on his followers to go after the white man and cut the throat of whiteness.
This isnt going to end well.

Friday nights primary debate between 31-year elected official Rep. Joseph Crowley and 28-year-old progressive Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez was a contest between establishment and outsider, old guard and upstart, experience and progress, status quo and change. It marks only the third primary challenge Crowley has faced since moving from the state Assembly to Congress and his first since 2004.
At times during the debate, his relative campaign inexperience showed, while Ocasio-Cortez presented as a well-studied newcomer with natural talent: delivering a summary of her agenda in a manner which was confident and sharp, if not effortless. The theme of her remarks was clear: Not all Democrats are the same.
Despite what she described as Crowleys adaptations meaning shifts leftward in response to her more-progressive campaign there are real differences between the two, said Ocasio-Cortez, who is challenging Crowley for the seat representing the 14th district, which encompasses parts of Queens and the Bronx.
Unlike Crowley, Ocasio-Cortez said she has rejected all corporate money, and is the only candidate in the race who supports improved and expanded Medicare for All, a federal jobs guarantee, tuition free public college and the abolition of ICE.
By contrast, Crowleys first remarks were those of a professional who felt confident enough to not prepare and who realized too late that he should have.
His opening pitch was also direct. This race, to him, isnt just about local politics: He is running against Donald Trump.
But according to Ocasio-Cortez: Its not enough to fight Trump. We have to fight the issues that made his rise in the first place.

The differences between Crowley and Ocasio-Cortez arent actually that significant, he argued, but his superior ability to effectively challenge Trump on the national stage makes him the better candidate. Unspoken, but well understood, is the fact that Crowley, Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, is anticipated to be the next House Democratic leader or Speaker should Nancy Pelosi step aside or be ousted by her colleagues, meaning that his efficacy on the national stage would, in fact, come in...

U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents are systematically violating U.S. and international law by blocking immigrants at international ports of entry on the southern border from entering the country so they can claim asylum. Immigration civil rights advocates have been documenting this illegal behavior since late 2016, from Texas to California. It was sporadic then, and appears to have been based at least in part on CBPs difficulties with handling large numbers of people.
Even so, the practice of turning immigrants away has suddenly become routine, creating chilling scenes of immigrants and children camped out near the bridges, exposed to sun, wind, and rain, amid make-do bedding, scattered clothing, and trash. A few times a day, the immigrants walk to the middle of the bridges and ask to be admitted to the port of entry building on the U.S. side so that they can request asylum. They are almost always turned back.
The Intercept witnessed such a scene on June 4 in El Paso, Texas. At 6 a.m., the sun rose on a 15-year-old Guatemalan boy and his father who were trying to walk across the border to apply for asylum. They did not swim the Rio Grande or otherwise attempt to enter the country illegally theyd made their attempt on an arcing, international bridge that joins El Paso with its Mexican sister city, Ciudad Jurez.
They were stopped at the top of the bridge by two CBP agents who refused to let them cross, pointed them back to Mexico, and said to try crossing later. This was the sixth time in three days that the man, his son, and about a dozen other Guatemalans had been thus rejected.
I knew they were Guatemalans because Id spoken with the man two days earlier. I spotted him and the group squatting disconsolately on the Mexican side of the bridge by the public bathrooms. This man and others in the group told me then that they were asylum-seekers afraid to go back to their home country because of violence there. They were extremely frustrated about being turned away. They recounted that the agents always told them there was no room to process them at the port of entry, and they should come back later when there might be room. There never was room. False words, the man with the son said, in Spanish that was heavily accented by Qeqchi, his indigenous tongue. Another man started crying.

When Obama was president, liberal celebrities were constantly visiting the White House for lavish parties, but now thats all over. This might explain why so many of these folks dont like Trump. They think DC belongs to them and was taken away. Wouldnt that also explain why Jane Fonda used the term our government at a recent event?
Jane Fonda to Hollywood Elite: Time to Take Back Our Government
Actress and political activist Jane Fonda warned a crowd of Hollywood elites of the existential crisis facing America under the Trump administration, urging them that the only solution is taking back our government.
After winning the Female EMA Lifetime Achievement Award at the Environmental Media Association (EMA) first Honors Benefit Gala, Fonda said that Democrats taking the House in the upcoming mid-terms elections was crucial to saving the country.
This is an existential crisis that were in, said the 80-year-old Grace and Frankie star. We have to do everything we can to take back the house in November. If anything can save us, its gonna be taking back our government.
Other actresses present at the ceremony included Elizabeth Olsen and Fondas Grace and Frankie co-star Lily Tomlin, who told The Hollywood Reporter: [Trump] is dangerous hes unfortunately dangerous to the planet, if nothing else. If we could raise Trumps consciousness, that would be helpful.
What Jane Fonda and others in Hollywood cant seem to grasp is that the government belongs to all of the American people, not just them.

Scads of analysts and pundits have weighed in on the Trump-Kim summit talks in Singapore, parsing the brief agreement and presidential tweets for signs of just how strongly it actually commits North Korea to total, verifiable denuclearization.
Most of them are missing the point. The real threat to U.S., Korean, and Japanese security of late has come not from North Korean nukes, but from threats by President Donald Trump and his closest advisers to launch a regional war to preempt any further North Korean progress on warhead and missile technology. Some experts were giving even odds of a U.S.-initiated war as recently as a few months ago.
So even if the spectacle in Singapore was more theater than substance, even if the presidents effusive praise for a totalitarian leader was hard to swallow, we should applaud Trump for belatedly making good on his 2016 campaign promise to sit down with Kim Jong-un over a hamburger in search of peace.
Throughout most of 2017, the Trump administration instead issued a steady stream of pronouncements warning that it was ready to go to war to stop Pyongyang from perfecting long-range missiles capable of hitting the United States with nuclear weapons.
Our president has been really clear about this, said then National Security Adviser H. R. McMaster. He is willing to do anything necessary to prevent that from happening . . . and so, all of our armed forces are getting to really a high, high degree of readiness for this mission. U.S.-South Korean war games reportedly included rehearsals of surgical strikes on North Koreas main nuclear and missile facilities and decapitation raids by special forces targeting the Norths leadership.
Trump himself warned last summer that he would meet any further North Korean nuclear advances with fire and fury like the world has never seen. He added in a tweet that military solutions are now fully in place, locked and loaded, should North Korea act unwisely.
Trumps close foreign policy adviser (and golfing partner), Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, strongly advised the president to launch a preemptive war sooner rather than later, before North Korea could put the U.S. homeland at risk. He also insisted that Trump wasnt bluffing about preparing an all-out first strike. He has told me that. I believe him, Graham said. If thousands die, theyre going to die over there. Theyre not going to die here. And he has told me that to my face.
Graham predicted that if North Korea conducted another nuclear bomb test, the odds that we use the military option would rise to 70 percent. Richard Haass, president of the Council on Foreign Relations, put the odds as high as 50/50. Trumps selection of John Bolton, an outspoken advocate of regime change in North Korea, as his national security adviser further...

Ive been following a real White Rabbit for a long time. My perspective on the world and especially the actions and motives of people in power has changed. As to what follow the white rabbit means, this excerpt from the definition of Follow the White Rabbit posted on the Urban Dictionarys site is succinct:
But whether you take it literally or metaphorically, following the white rabbit means following an unlikely clue, an innocuous, unbelievable (but also, frankly a bit ridiculous) sign, to find oneself in the midst of more or less extraordinary, marvelous, amazing circumstances that challenge ones fundamental beliefs, expand ones horizons &/or perception of realities, transform ones perspective, and change ones life.
And thats exactly what happened to me. But not from anything thats captured the popular imagination recently. No, it was after discovering this site, LewRockwell.com, years ago. And let me illustrate by selecting a few of posts from June 11, 2018, when I started to write this:
Have no skin in the game says David Gordon.
Last month, I wrote about Tesla CEO Elon Musks contemptuous and breezy dismissal of questions asked by financial analysts about the cashflow situation at Tesla. Would the company need yet another infusion of money to remain afloat? Lame! Next question.
That was Musks response.
As it turns out, its Tesla thats lame. The company Musk just laid off several thousand employees, about 9 percent of its workforce which is one way to raise cash (by not spending it on worker salaries) when you dont want to admit you need another infusion from investors or realize you might not be able to get one because those investors are becoming gun-shy about giving money to Elon.
Ive been pointing out for years that Tesla is a net money-losing operation, despite all the crony capitalist advantages including electric car quotas in states like California, which force other car companies to either build EVs they cant sell (or sell at a loss) or buy credits from an electric car manufacturer (Tesla) which the electric car company then uses to offset its losses.
Even so, Tesla has lost something on the order of $5.4 billion dollars so far, according to most estimates. Yet until quite recently most media coverage of Tesla has focused on what amounts to financial Fake News of the most egregious kind, such as the hype-driven value of Tesla stock. Its true the stock price zoomed upward like a bottle rocket on the 4th of July. But what was driving this?
Not anything of value.
Analysts refused to analyze the fact that Tesla loses money on every car it sells. That it remains in business only because of investor infusions and deposits given on cars that never seem to materialize.
Well, the electric chickens may finally be coming home to roost.
At some point, you either make money or you dont. If you dont, you have to find people willing to give you more of it. When you cant do that anymore, you are forced to scale back. You let people go in order to husband what resources youve still got, in the hope that maybe youll be able to ride it out.
Elon is running out of money. His operations arent sustainable.
That is the real story behind the mass layoffs at Tesla and its still not being told. A healthy and growing company doesnt have to cut its workforce by almost 9 percent. There will likely be more cuts, too unless Elon can raise another $1.3 billion or so, which is the sum Tesla is expected to lose over the next four quarters. Moodys Financial Ser...
The 500-page inspector generals report released Thursday reveals how unjustified secrecy and poor decisions helped ravage the credibility of both Hillary Clintons presidential campaign and the FBI.
Yesterdays Inspector General report on the FBIs investigation of Hillary Clinton contained plenty of bombshells, including a promise by lead FBI investigator Peter Strzok that Well stop Donald Trump from becoming president. The report reveals how unjustified secrecy and squirrelly decisions helped ravage the credibility of both Hillary Clintons presidential campaign and the FBI. But few commentators are recognizing the vast peril to democracy posed by the sweeping prerogatives of federal agencies.
The FBIs investigation of Clinton was spurred by her decision to set up a private server to handle her email during her four years as secretary of state. The server in her Chappaqua, N.Y. mansion was insecure and exposed emails with classified information to detection by foreign sources and others.
Clinton effectively exempted herself from the federal Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). The State Department ignored 17 FOIA requests for her emails prior to 2014 and insisted it required 75 years to disclose emails of Clintons top aides. A federal judge and the State Department inspector general slammed the FOIA stonewalling.
Clintons private email server was not publicly disclosed until she received a congressional subpoena in 2015. A few months later, the FBI Counterintelligence Division opened a criminal investigation of the potential unauthorized storage of classified information on an unauthorized system.
The IG report gives the impression that the FBI treated Hillary Clinton and her coterie like royalty or at least like personages worthy of endless deference. When...
Once the reelected Obama administration gave the okay for the diversity industry to begin shaking down Silicon Valley like it does everybody else, we began to read over and over that the reason there are few female tech founders is because the white male power structure leaves billion-dollar bills lying on the sidewalk just to spite women.
And yet, the industrys most memorable story of recent years, as recounted in Wall Street Journal reporter John Carreyrous page-turning new book Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Startup, is how young blonde Elizabeth Holmes became techs pioneering female self-made billionaire (on paper) despite not quite having gone through the formality of actually inventing her breakthrough medical gizmo.
Starting Theranos in 2003 as a 19-year-old Stanford dropout, Ms. Holmes specialized in charming elder statesmen with her vision of disrupting the blood-testing industry. Over the next dozen years, Ms. Holmes raised (and spent) about $900 million, and saw her half of the companys stock valued at $4.5 billion. Carreyrou writes:
As much as she courted the attention, Elizabeths sudden fame wasnt entirely her doing. Her emergence tapped into the publics hunger to see a female entrepreneur break through in a technology world dominated by men. In Elizabeth Holmes, the Valley had its first female billionaire tech founder.
To lend credence to her claims for her Edison blood-analyzing device, Holmes assembled a board of directors featuring a Deep State hall-of-fame lineup, including former secretaries of state Henry Kissinger and George Schultz, current secretary of defense General Mad Dog Mattis, and former Senate majority leader Bill Frist. Her Democrats included retired Senate Armed Services Committee chair Sam Nunn, Carter administration defense secretary William Perry, and Al Gores superlawyer David Boies.
Investors in her Potemkin start-up included Oracles Larry Ellison, Mexican monopolist Carlos Slim, New England Patriots owner Robert K. Kraft, various Waltons, and Rupert Murdoch. The press baron lost his $125 million investment, but emerged with some dignity because he refused Holmes calls to spike Carreyrous 2015 expos in his WSJ...
Now that weve had a few days to let the war-mongers and Democrats (or do I repeat myself) fulminate over the summit between Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un its important to look at what actually happened and where were going next.
For a good analysis of what was actually accomplished, read this excellent post over at Moon of Alabama.
the freeze for freeze North Korea had offered [Obama previously in 2015 and 2016] and China promoted. The U.S. stops the large strategic maneuvers involving nuclear capable bombers flying from Guam, aircraft carriers and the like, while North Korea stops testing nukes and missiles. North Korea achieved its first aim. It can now lower its miliary posture and develop its economy.
The situation is still somewhat unstable as both freeze steps are reversible.
The freeze for freeze is, as the Chinese Foreign Minister envisioned, a starting point for a long series of talks which may finally lead to a peace agreement and some nuclear disarmament. Now comes the dual-track approach of a peace agreement in exchange for some disarmament in a synchronized and reciprocal manner. This will be a step-by-step process which will take years or even decades.
Russia was promoting this same strategy publicly during the worst of the tensions between Trump and Kim last year. Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov spoke of the double freeze repeatedly.
And it was always going to end this way because, as Ive been saying all along, North Korea has a nuclear weapon and the U.S. will only come to the bargaining table when it has lost significant leverage.
And a nuclear deterrent is a major bit of leverage.
So, the Freeze for Freeze is now in effect. The war games are a direct economic benefit to North Korea as MoA points out at length. And Trump gets the win by spinning it as a cost-cutting measure.
The imperial sycophants and quislings are crying in their lattes over this and defense stocks have taken it on the chin. All of this is to the good of mankind.
All. of. it.
Rejoice in this, unless you believe in creating a world safe for George Soross Open Society and continued serfdom at the hands of the Globalist elites. And, as I said the other day, their response to these very tentative steps towards delineates who is working for peace and who is working for chaos.
The bigger question is the one Pat Buchanan is asking and it sits at the heart of the criticism Trump is getting from the chattering class, cynical...
What will come out of this weeks summit between Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un of North Korea remains to be seen, and one must hope for the best, but the bullets are already beginning to fly in the US media with The New York Times Nicholas Kristof declaring impulsively somewhat implausibly that Trump gave away the store by canceling military training exercises with South Korea and in legitimizing Jong-uns rule by meeting with him without getting anything substantive in return.
Lost in the flood of news coming out of Singapore are Trumps positive comments delivered at the earlier G-7 meeting in Canada, which may have opened the door to a possible meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and a return of Moscow to a reconfigured G-8. One hopes that China will soon also make it into the ultimate insiders club, which will have to be renamed G-9.
Washingtons most important relationship is with Moscow, and the possibility of dtente should be welcomed by everyone who wishes to avoid a nuclear holocaust. But The Times Paul Krugman, among others, cannot overcome his visceral dislike for Russia, citing its invasion of Ukraine and its relatively small economy as good reasons to block its membership in a reconstituted G-8. He also suggests that Putin has some kind of hold over Trump, a serious charge that he cannot substantiate except by innuendo,...

North Philly is generally not good for your health and happiness. Though neighborhoods have cute, idyllic names like Nicetown, Hunting Park and Fairhill, theyre mostly postindustrial, trash strewn, drugged up ghettos with plenty of dead businesses, dilapidated churches, boarded up homes, caged porches and corner bodegas with signs forbidding hoodies, guns and knives. Chinese takeouts dish up beef lo mein, moo shoo pork and fried chicken from behind bullet-proof plexiglass. Graffiti mar just about every flat surface, including, sometimes, beautiful murals celebrating prominent black figures in art, science, politics and civil rights.
The northeast corner of North Philly, though, is generally spared from this mayhem and squalor. Composed primarily of Poles, Irish, Ukrainians and Italians, Port Richmond and Bridesburg retain their dignity and orderliness through half a century of economic decline.

Anyone who has been a libertarian for any length of time has probably been accused of being religious in their political beliefs at some point. The term is used to dismiss libertarianism as being somehow faith-based, or dogmatic and impermeable to reason (never mind the centuries of rigorous philosophical and economic work that underly libertarian thinking) and therefore not worth taking seriously.
My own tendency has been to defend libertarian thought by pointing to those centuries of important work, and to the evidence both throughout history and in the present day demonstrating that the more free people are, the better off they are. But Ive come to realize, recently, that those who have accused me of being religious in my opinions all these years arent entirely wrong.
I owe this new revelation to Father Brown.
I started watching the current BBC series when I learned that it was based on stories by G.K. Chesterton. I know, the series is very different from the stories. Ive read some of them and I do know that. But however the show measures up against its inspiration, it is an absolute gem that stands apart from most of what is on television and in 2018 thats saying quite a lot. The show is deceptive in its simplicity, and downright shocking in its non-cynical portrayal of a protagonist who is driven by principle.
In the BBC version, Father Brown is a Catholic priest serving the idyllic yet astonishingly crime-ridden town of Kembleford, in the Cotswolds. He is also an amateur sleuth who consistently shows up the local police, solving crimes that they cannot. Yet throughout, his focus is on the souls of his parishioners, and of the criminals themselves. His goal is always to convince the guilty to confess, so that they may find peace in the afterlife.
Its not exactly a libertarian theme. And yet watching it, I feel a kinship. For me, no matter how great the writing, there is something fundamental missing in most mainstream entertainment. Its hard to point to exactly what it is: Morality isnt quite right. Neither is spirituality and indeed, there are plenty of films and tv shows that deal with spiritual and moral topics. I think its something about holding a view of humans as being capable of acting from something other than their basest instincts, of being capable of living together in peace, and about earthly authority and law being subordinate to a more fundamental moral code.
Its much easier to be cynical about these things. Or to insist (with what starts to feel increasingly like desperation) that humanitys true nature reveals itself only in extreme situations, that we are reall...
Brexit, Quitaly and Grexit. Debt Defaults, Stock Shocks, Bond Bubbles, Properties Popping, Derivative Defaults and Banks Busting.
Well that is just some of the events that will take place in the next few years.
But the world is living in ignorant bliss of what is coming next.
As the song tells us:
In every life we have some trouble
But when you worry you make it double
Dont worry, be happy
Dont worry, be happy now
Well this well-known song says it all. Risk in the world is growing exponentially but no one is worrying.
GLOBAL DEBT OUT OF CONTROL
Global debt has trebled since 1999 from $80 trillion to $240+ trillion today. And since the Great Financial Crisis started in 2006, debts have doubled. But Dont Worry be Happy!
STOCKS ONLY RISE DUE TO MONEY PRINTING
And Central banks of course wont let us down. They have printed $16 trillion since 2006. So they must continue to make the rich richer and the poor believing that all is well. So Dont Worry.
And world stock markets are up 4x since 2009. So Dont Worry, this will go on for ever.
Stocks are up and debt is up what a great formula. Just print more and give more credit and all will be well. Be Happy!.
But what happens if central banks stop printing and banks stop lending. The song has a solution for that too:
Aint got no cash, aint got no style
Aint got no gal to make you smile
Dont worry, be happy
Cause when you worry your face will frown
And that will bring everybody down
So dont worry, be happy

In December 2017, Slate magazine published an astonishing article about the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine Gardasil, revealing how the safety trials for this controversial vaccine actually werent designed to properly assess safety.1 Gardasil is supposed to prevent infection by certain strains of HPV virus, which in rare cases may cause cervical cancer if left untreated.
However, trial data from Merck shows that Gardasil vaccinations may actually increase your risk of cervical cancer by 44.6 percent if you have been exposed to HPV strains 16 or 18 prior to vaccination.2 The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has made this document inaccessible, but weve saved a copy of it. In his Slate article, investigative journalist Frederik Joelving recounts the story of Kesia Lyng, a 30-year-old Danish woman who, at the age of 19, participated in a clinical trial for Mercks Gardasil vaccine
Lyngs grandmother had died of cervical cancer the year before, so when a letter arrived offering her $500 to take part in a crucial international test of Gardasil, the decision was easy, Joelving writes. She got her first shot of the vaccine at Hvidovre Hospital in Copenhagen on September 19, 2002. The symptoms snuck up on her shortly after her second shot on November 14.
They never abated. It wasnt until 2016 that she received her diagnosis chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) In recent years, Lyng has become suspicious that there is a connection between her disease and her Gardasil immunization. Her ailments evoke descriptions found in hundreds of news stories from women who also received the vaccine, as well as several medical case reports from around the world.
HPV Vaccine Linked to Serious Side Effects, Including Death
Reported side effects of Gardasil vaccination include immune-based inflammatory neurodegenerative disorders, suggesting something is causing the immune system to overreact in a detrimental way, sometimes fatally.3,4 The dangers of high immunogenicity was addressed in my 2015...
Florida feels kind of like the epicenter of tragedy in this country at the moment. Despite it having no kind of monopoly on horrible events, one can almost be forgiven for believing otherwise.
The most recent involved a man taking four children hostage after his girlfriend told police hed battered her earlier this week. In the end, all four children were killed, a police officer was shot, and the hostage taker committed suicide.
Oh, yeah, he was also a convicted felon.
A Florida felon who authorities say killed four children after a daylong standoff that started with the shooting of an officer had recently violated his parole, and his parole officer recommended that he be put in jail for six months. Instead he was given supervised probation, court records show.
Gary Lindsey was arrested last month for theft and then jailed for violating his probation from a decade-old arson charge, the records show. His probation officer said Lindsey posed no threat to the community but she still recommended that he be incarcerated for six months. However, Lindseys sister agreed to pay $1,000 and he agreed to pay $300 a month toward restitution, and his supervised probation was reinstated during a court hearing. The records show Lindsey had been working at an auto center in Orlando, earning $1,300 a month.
Sundays 21-hour standoff began when Lindseys girlfriend left the apartment and told police she had been battered. Lindsey fired at responding officers, seriously wounding one of them. He then holed up inside the apartment for much of the day with the four children, who they say ranged in age from 1 to 11. The girlfriend was the mother of all four children and Lindsey was the father of two of them, said family friend Walter Benenati.
We heard gunshots, and I saw through the window that the policeman was down, neighbor Miguel Lopez said. The top stair was full of blood. They took the police officer down. It was horrible.
The officer is in critical condition but is expected to survive, thankfully.
At a time when anti-establishment sentiment is roiling the party, the 76-year-old McConnell, who this week became the longest-serving Senate Republican leader in history, has a target on his back and is taking no chances.
Representatives Matt Gaetz and Ron DeSantis appear on Fox News to discuss the DOJ inspector general report after release: .
The Los Angeles District Attorneys office is reviewing a sex crime case against Academy Award-winning actor Sylvester Stallone.
The incident allegedly took place in 1990 and the accuser filed a report against Stallone in November 2017, according to the Santa Monica Police Department.
But the Santa Monica Police Department announced the charges against Stallone on Thursday.
Stallones attorney, Martin Singer, contends the woman who made the complaint engaged in a consensual relationship with Stallone in the 1980s and the relationship had always been consensual.
Singer also blasted the police department for publicizing allegations that have yet to be investigated.
My client categorically denies the allegations. Its outrageous that the DAs office and PD would announce this information because it makes the public think that theres something there, Stallones attorney, Martin Singer, told CNN. Its not appropriate to try to ruin someone by doing this, he added.
Singer doubled down in his criticism of the police department, arguing in an interview with the New York Post, arguing that the District Attorneys office deliberately intended to tarnish Stallone by making the decades old allegation public.
The D.A.s office only revealed it was reviewing the case to get it out there that theyre investigating these matters, he told the Post. You dont see police or the D.A.s office issuing statements about everybody who files a police report people would get ruined, he said. Why go to the media? Why not do the investigation first?
The woman has made the allegations, which have expired the statue of limitations, for purely opportunistic reasons, Singer argued.

The Atlanta Fed raised their estimate of second quarter GDP growth to 4.8%.
The growth rate of real gross domestic product (GDP) is a key indicator of economic activity, but the official estimate is released with a delay. Our GDPNow forecasting model provides a nowcast of the official estimate prior to its release by estimating GDP growth using a methodology similar to the one used by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis.
GDPNow is not an official forecast of the Atlanta Fed. Rather, it is best viewed as a running estimate of real GDP growth based on available data for the current measured quarter. There are no subjective adjustments made to GDPNowthe estimate is based solely on the mathematical results of the model.
Recent forecasts for the GDPNow model are available here. More extensive numerical detailsincluding underlying source data, forecasts, and model parametersare available as a separate spreadsheet.
Latest forecast: 4.8 percent June 14, 2018
The GDPNow model estimate for real GDP growth (seasonally adjusted annual rate) in the second quarter of 2018 is 4.8 percent on June 14, up from 4.6 percent on June 8. Well stop Trump from becoming President, says the guy who opened the Russia investigation, a little over a week after he opened it. Via WSJ: Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitzs 500-page report covers plenty, but it can be distilled to two words he uses to describe the Federal Bureau of Investigation during the 2016
The DNC emails were hacked two years ago and Clapper left his post in January of 2017 and this is the first time he publicly claimed US intel identified a suspected.
In an interview with Trump-hating Yahoo! reporter, Michael Isikoff, former Intel Chief James Clapper claimed U.S. intelligence officials last year identified a suspect who served as the cut-out for Russian intelligence to funnel thousands of Democratic National Committee emails and documents to WikiLeaks,
In an interview with Yahoo News podcast Skullduggery, Clapper said Intel officials were pretty confident they identified a middleman for the hacked DNC and Podesta emails. Clapper gave zero details about the suspect.
We had a suspect. I dont know whether the suspicions we had at the time were conveyed [to Justice Department special counsel Robert Mueller] or whether they were validated. U.S. intelligence officials were pretty confident at the time but not sufficient enough to publicize it, he said.
WikiLeaks founder, Julian Assange stated many times publicly the Russian government did not give him the hacked DNC emails.
Clapper says a cut-out or third party individual was used purposefully so Julian Assange could plausibly deny the Russians were the ones who handed him the hacked DNC emails.
In April, Russia used a third party cut-out to send more than 19,000 DNC emails and more than 8,000 documents to WikiLeaks and Julian Assange, attempting to cover its tracks and to give WikiLeaks some degree of deniability in knowing the source of the leaks.
James Clapper then went full conspiracy theory nut job and implied the Trump campaign and the Russians were one big echo chamber.
Clapper claimed Trump slamming Hillary for her health problems and scandals came from the Russians. Unbelievable.
There is striking I found, we found, parallelism between what the [Trump] campaign was doing and...

There is no denying President Donald Trumps immigration policy is far more menacing in presentation than his predecessor, President Barack Obama. But how much is this a difference in style versus a difference in substance?
The material outcomes of Obama and Trumps deportation approaches, and the reaction among Democrats to both, tell us a lot about the circumstances in which incontrovertible violence is deemed acceptable in America.
For Trump, immigration is part of the culture war, and he does not hide the ways in which his policy decisions are motivated by animus toward immigrants. Trump has demonized immigrants for years, and since taking office, he has publicly emphasized family separation as part of his deportation policy. He is expanding detention infrastructure specifically for children with plans for a tent city-style facility in Texas. The administration has pledged to pursue deportation against 100% of undocumented people.
But Trump is adding to a foundation developed by Obama, who aggressively detained and deported undocumented immigrants for nearly his entire presidency. He did so while acting as though he was little more than a manager of the systema helpless custodian of the law.
These differences in approach have muddied the debate about how the United States government separated families and incarcerated children in recent history. Unless we fully acknowledge the harm and injustice of this systematic violence without making convenient excuses for the past, progress may be difficult if not impossible.
There seems to be confusion. To be clear, family separation and child detention are a basic feature of American deportation proceedings. They occur on a routine and systematic basis, even if the government in charge isnt pounding its chest about it.
In fact, immigrant communities were outspoken on this reality for many, many years.
Family separation was a frontline issue for immigration activists for the last decade or more. They warned of a generation of orphans scarred by the loss of their parents. They cautioned that Obama expanded deportation forces o...
US Senate Candidate Howard Shermans Company Ordered To Pay $4.1 Million In Damages; Sued By Targus For Misrepresentation Of Financial Condition Of His Company When Sold To Them "IndyWatch Feed Politics.us"
US Senate Candidate Howard Sherman sounds like a Trump-light on his web site. However, the more one reads, including the case below, the more he looks Trump-like. While there is more than one Howard Sherman, this is definitely the one running in the Democratic primary to become the Democratic candidate for US Senate, because his wife, Sela Ward, is mentioned in an article about Sherman and Roundhouse.
$4.1 million in damages were awarded to Targus and this was upheld upon appeal.
the judge ordered payment of compensatory damages from the Sherman group to Targus in the amount of $4,140,770, with substantial prejudgment interest, and specific performance of certain indemnification and release terms (Targus Group International vs. Howard Sherman et al.)
This sounds like fraud:
In 2000 Targus purchased one hundred percent of the stock of Roundhouse in exchange for $79 million in cash and Targus stock. During the next two years, Targus concluded that the Sherman group had not accurately represented Roundhouses financial condition and resulting stock purchase value, and called upon the group to pay damages for breach of warrantied representations underlying the purchase price. (Targus Group International vs. Howard Sherman et al.)
Contrary to what the case says, Howard Sherman didnt even found Roundhouse. Rather, he joined Roundhouse in 1993, which at the time was basically a 3-year-old design studio run by a couple of struggling young graphic artists. He was one of many recent MBAs in that period. In the 1980s it seemed as though almost everyone was doing MBAs. We dont know what happened to the graphic artists, or if they are his co-defendants in this case.
In Shermans statement in response to the petition to disqualify him, as a US Senate candidate for the Democratic party (when hes been a Republican and he and his wife donated to his potential Republican opponent Wicker less than a year ago), says We have secured millions of dollars for foster kids, without mentioning that this was millions from the state of Mississippi. https://twitter.com/i/web/status/987019946218655746. Part of this Mississippi money seems to be matched with money from the federal government, i.e. from taxpayers from other states. In a recent article he comes close to admitting that it was the issue of government funding for his Hope Village childrens home that brought him into the US Senate race.
Judge Jails Ex-Trump Campaign Chair Manafort
Last Updated: June 15, 2018 2:04 PM, by Masood Farivar
A federal judge on Friday sent President Donald Trumps former campaign chairman Paul Manafort to prison for tampering with witnesses while out on bail.
Manafort was free on $10 million unsecured bail since he was first indicted last October by the special counsel investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election and alleged collusion with the Trump campaign.
He is one of 20 people charged by special counsel Robert Mueller and the first former Trump associate to go to prison in connection with the investigation.
In a tweet Friday afternoon, President Trump said: Wow, what a tough sentence for Paul Manafort, who has represented Ronald Reagan, Bob Dole and many other top political people and campaigns. Didnt know Manafort was the head of the Mob. What about Comey and Crooked Hillary and all of the others? Very unfair!
Manafort appeared in court to plead not guilty to new charges of obstruction of justice and conspiracy to obstruct justice in connection with his efforts to influence the testimony of two potential witnesses in his case.
Federal district judge Amy Berman Jackson, citing the new charges, granted a motion filed last week by Mueller, to revoke his bail and send him to prison while he awaits trial in September.
Manafort was escorted out of the court room by deputies as he waved to his wife. The latest indictment against him, issued by a grand jury last week, accused Manafort, 69, and a business associate, Konstantin Kilimnik, 48, of repeatedly contacting two unidentified people in an effort to sway their testimony. The contacts took place between February and April of this year.
According to prosecutors, the two potential witnesses worked with Manafort in enlisting a group of former European officials to lobby both European officials and members of Congress on Ukraines behalf.
Defense lawyers, saying Manafort was unaware the two people were cooperating with the special counsel, painted the contacts as innocuous. They asked that prosecutors provide a list of people Manafort should not be contacting while on bail.
A clear no-contact role will solve the problem, one of Manaforts lawyers said. He can be put in a position where conditions can be met.
But prosecutors argued that given Manaforts track record of flouting his bail conditions, no new terms would ensure compliance.
Were in a very different situation, said Andrew Weissmann, one of Mu...

Cummings, Pelosi, Hoyer, and Other Senior Democrats
Call on President Trump to Rescind Executive Orders that
Strip Key Protections for Whistleblowers
Washington, D.C. (June 14, 2018)Today, Rep. Elijah E. Cummings, the Ranking Member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, and 22 other senior Democrats sent a letter calling on President Donald Trump to immediately rescind three Executive Orders targeting federal whistleblowers.
Your Executive Orders are the most direct and systematic attack on whistleblower protections in a generation, the Members wrote. They strip federal employees of procedures that were put in place to protect them against retaliation by their superiorswho are often political appointeesand they deny whistleblowers the representation of union members when they are punished for speaking the truth. Your Executive Orders also degrade existing protections against undue partisanship in the federal workforce, allowing political appointees to terminate employees arbitrarily and without the check of meaningful collective bargaining.
The Members who joined the letter are top House Democrats: Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Steny Hoyer (D-MD), James E. Clyburn (D-SC), Joe Crowley (D-NY), Linda Snchez (D-CA), Ral M. Grijalva (D-AZ), Bobby Scott (D-VA), Robert Brady (D-PA), Adam Smith (D-WA), John A. Yarmuth (D-KY), Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS), Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ), Eliot L. Engel (D-NY), Nydia Velzquez (D-NY), Richard Neal (D-MA), Peter A. DeFazio (D-OR), Nita Lowey (D-NY), Timothy Walz (D-MN), Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), James McGovern (D-MA), Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-TX), and Adam Schiff (D-CA).
More than twenty years ago, Congress enacted protections for whistleblowers who report waste, fraud, and abuse. Before that, whistleblowers risked discipline, transfer, and termination in retaliation for their acts of patriotism. Collective bargaining and union representation provide the first line of defense to federal whistleblowers, along with established procedures to protect the non-partisan professionals who make up the U.S. civil service.
Your Executive Orders risk turning the federal workplace into a reality show environment in which they can be fired for raising concerns with potentially illegal orders, unsafe work conditions, sexual harassment, or waste, fraud, and abuse, the Members wrote. Your new Executive Orders will mark the end to meaningful contract bargaining in the federal government. They will incentivize agency managers and political appointees to impose their will and flout the legal requirement to negotiate...

House Majority Whip Steve Scalise opposes House Speaker Paul Ryans amnesty plan, his office confirmed to Breitbart News on Friday. Scalise joins President Donald Trump in opposing the Ryan amnesty plan, which is scheduled at this time for a vote next Thursday in the House.
Scalise did not, in fact, whip the compromise legislation today, and he does not intend to whip any immigration bill unless it has the support of President Trump, Scalise spokeswoman Lauren Fine told Breitbart News. He will not support immigration legislation that the president opposes.
Majority Leader Kevin McCarthys office continues to decline to answer whether he will stand with President Trump or with lame duck Paul Ryans amnesty plan.
